Sightseeing in Buenos Aires
Encounter history and old world languor in Argentina’s most ebullient city.
| Attractions and things to do - Sightseeing in Buenos Aires | |
Visit the brightly coloured area of La Boca; see the world famous football stadium, the pretty craft shops and if you’re lucky a street tango show. Pulsating with energy, Buenos Aires is a city like no other. Described as the most cosmopolitan capital in South America, this city has many different identities. There is an evident European feel; yet Buenos Aires still retains its South American charm. The central hub of activity is around Plaza de Mayo. This square has been the nucleus of the city since it was founded by the Spanish in 1580. The city is a collage of different architectural styles that reflect their turbulent history. Visit Cabildo the 18th century Spanish colonial centre of power and Casa Rosada the home of the Argentineans presidents. The Casa Rosada (the pink house) according to folklore gets it distinctive pink color from a mixture of bovine cattle blood and grease! To truly understand why Buenos Aires so exciting, you must experience the Avenida 9 de Julio, the widest avenue in the world (16 lanes of traffic!) This city’s buzz continues in the Boca neighborhood. Here the streets are an explosion of colour. See the brightly painted buildings, the spectacular street tango shows and the pretty craft shops. This tour will give you a glimpse into the past of Argentina but also the vibrant way of life today. See the sights and experience Buenos Aires’ charm, this is a truly unmissable tour.
