Visit the ‘Bomas of Kenya’, a cultural centre situated 10km from the city centre for a slice of Africa’s rich cultural heritage. Formed to preserve and promote Kenyan culture through entertainment programmes, this is a great way to acquaint yourself with Kenya’s rich culture. Watch the colourfully dressed Bomas Harambee dancers swirl to the rhythm of traditional African music at the spectacular circular theatre that seats 3,500 people. Take a guided tour of the traditional villages and you’ll appreciate the richness of Kenya’s tribal culture. ‘Bomas’ is an African word meaning ‘An African Homestead’ and houses different styles of Bomas, each representing one of Kenya’s major ethnic groups. Marvel at the traditional African architecture of the Bomas and gain AN insight into the cultural diversity of Kenya’s rural tribes.
