Bird watching in Tanzania’s National Parks-12 Days/11 Nights |
Go bird watching and get some great photographs of wildlife at Tanzania’s national parks
| Overview | |
See an incredible variety of African wildlife and birds on this holiday to Tanzania’s most popular national parks. Visit Arusha National Park, located at the base of the Meru Mountain. Go on game safaris and spot a variety of African wildlife like giraffes, rhinos, elephants, hippos, monkeys and birds. Further on, visit the 2850 square kilometres Tarangire National Park. Don’t forget your binoculars for bird watching as this reserve has a variety of birds like orange parrots and the ashy starling. Take a game safari and you could spot elephants, hartebeests, kudus and giraffes. Take a walk, accompanied by armed guards, and get some great photographs of the natural landscape and wildlife of Tanzania. Drive to the 330 square kilometres Lake Manyara National Park in the Great Rift Valley. The shoreline of this soda lake is covered with a sea of pink flamingos. The park is also renowned for its hippopotamuses and tree-climbing lions. Continue to the 8300 square kilometres Ngorongoro conservation area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Drive up to the 20 kilometres wide Ngorongoro crater, whose thick forests, grasslands and wetlands provide the perfect setting for game spotting. On your way to the world famous Serengeti National Park, stop at Ol Duvai Gorge (100 metres, 50 kilometres long), which cuts through the Serengeti plains. The vast and treeless expanse of the Serengeti reserve is something you wouldn’t want to miss! From lions, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, gazelles, giraffes and elands to a variety of birds, this reserve is paradise for wildlife and nature photographers. Fly to the south-western region of Lake Victoria and visit the 240 square kilometres Rubondo Island. Explore the flora and fauna as you venture into the forest with armed rangers. You can also take a boat safari to the Mlaga Swamps and spot kingfishers, flycatchers, hornbills, storks and fish eagles. Tour Tanzania’s national parks and appreciate the variety of African wildlife on this holiday.
