Bako National Park Sightseeing Tour |
Explore Bako National Park, Sarawak’s oldest park, see rare flora and fauna and the sea stack
| Overview | |
Bako National Park is Sarawak's oldest national park, covering an area of 2,727 hectares at the tip of the Muara Tebas peninsula. Although it is one of Southeast Asia's smallest national parks, it is a treasure chest of fauna and flora and contains almost every type of vegetation found in Borneo. A well-maintained network of 16 colour-coded jungle trails offers visitors the option of gentle strolls or full-day jungle hikes. Bako is also home to approximately 150 rare proboscis monkey, found only in Borneo. Along the sandy footpaths you will find the insect-eating pitcher plants that have been known to devour over small mammals. From the beach at Pandan Kecil you can see Bako's trademark, the sea stack carved by the waves. Swimming, beach combing at low tide and sunset watching are popular activities along the sandy bays of the Park. With its rainforest abundant wildlife, jungle streams, waterfalls, interesting plant life, secluded beaches and trekking trails, Bako offers visitor an excellent introduction to the rainforest of Borneo.
