Ayutthaya City and Bang Pa-In (Royal Palace) Tour |
Explore the ruins of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and marvel at the fabulous Royal Palace
| Overview | |
See history lying scattered everywhere in the historic city of Ayutthaya, the Siamese royal capital from 1350 till 1767. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ayutthaya’s historic temples can be seen throughout this once magnificent city. The old capital of Thailand founded by King Ramathibodi I (Uthong) in 1350. Till the Burmese invasion in 1767, it was a prosperous capital with over 400 Buddhist monasteries. Taste the lifestyle of Thai royal family at Bang Pa-In, the Royal Palace used by former Thai kings as their summer palace. This Royal Palace dates back to the reign of King Rama V while the buildings within the palace represent a variety of Thai, Chinese and Victorian styles. Bang Pa-In boasts of a vast garden, a Chinese-style royal palace, a brightly-painted lookout tower, and a pavilion constructed in the middle of the lake. Today, the royal family sometimes uses the palace as a residence and for receptions or banquets. Find out about the rich heritage of Thailand by visiting the ancient city of Ayutthaya and exploring its Bang Pa-In, the Royal Palace.
