River Cruise to Ayutthaya, Bang Pa-In Royal Palace |
Learn about Thailand’s royal past at Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visit Bang Pa-In
| Overview | |
Ayutthaya, the old capital of Thailand, was founded by King Ramathibodi I (Uthong) in 1350. This historical landmark was once the most powerful in Southeast Asia, attracting traders from all the major European powers of the time. The ruins of the former capital now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are impressive. The spectacular Bang Pa-In offers a fascinating glimpse into the lifestyle of Thai royalty. The Royal Palace was used by former Thai kings as their summer palace. This palace was built in the 17th century by King Prasat Thong and revived later by King Mongkut in 1851. The Palace comprises buildings of various ages and architectural styles surrounded by a lake. Explore the rich history of Thai royalty by taking a river cruise to Ayutthaya and the Bang Pa-In.
