Go on a walking tour in the beautiful valleys of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco
| Overview | |
|
While in Morocco, spend two nights hiking through the Atlas Mountains, exploring the scenic valleys of the upper reaches. Travel from Marrakech through many little hamlets and villages to the Berber town of Imlil which is known as Morocco’s ‘little Chamonix’ and is set in the upper foothills of the Western High Atlas Mountains. Take a walk along a ‘piste’ through fields of wheat and orchards of walnut, apple and cherry trees up to the Tizi n ‘Tamatert. Stop at a Tizi to admire the Imlil and Imenane Valleys, and see many Berber villages balanced precariously on the slopes. Hike through the valley along mule trails to reach the oldest Berber village in the Toubkal Massif – Tacheddirt. Walk southeast from Tacheddirt past terraced villages and scenic mountainside to really appreciate the beauty of the Atlas Mountains. Eat at Berber villages, relax next to beautiful springs and hike past cornfields, orange groves and flowing rivulets.
