Set out from the city of Zurich to Vitznau, set in the scenic district of Lucerne with the majestic Mount Rigi looming in the backdrop. Board Rigi-Bahn, Europe’s oldest cog railway to the summit of Rigi Kaltbad, the ‘Queen of the Mountains’ with its heavenly peace and clear air. The train ride will be the most interesting, rather exciting part of the trip. The angle of ascent is so extreme that you can hardly sit up straight in your seat! At Restaurant Alpina, tuck into a sumptuous Rosti dinner comprising potatoes and bacon, while taking in fabulous Alpine views. Stroll down the walking path to Rigi Kanzeli, a wonderful spot for picnic with stunning views of lake-lapped Lucerne and the mountains. Experience a spectacular sunset in the unspoilt surroundings – a breathtaking view you will never forget! As darkness begins to set in, descend by cog rail to Vitznau bathed in the soft orange glow of the setting sun.
