Discover one of Spain’s greatest splendours, often referred to as ‘The eighth wonder of the world’. The Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is set in a stunning location overlooking the city of Granada.Nestling at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and arguably the finest example of Arab architecture in the whole of Spain; the palace and its gardens were built as a re-creation of ‘heaven on earth’, with cool patios, fountains and intricate carvings still clear as when it was first built. The Alhambra is composed of three parts: the Royal Palace, the Gardens of Generalife and the fortress of Alcazaba. The Royal Palace is the most famous; it consists of the Mexuar – enclosing the striking Golden Room - where the sultans conducted every day business. The inspiration for the gardens of Generalife is supposed to be the Koranic description of Paradise. A tour of Alhambra Palace is a must-do for all visitors to Spain.
