Fill your lungs with cool, invigorating forest air as you hike amid Oak, Pine and Pistachio trees
| Attractions and things to do - Adventure Tours in Amman: Hiking in the Ajloun Woodland Reserve | |
|
Feel the cool, invigorating air as you hike along a nature trail inside the Ajloun Woodland Reserve near Amman, an evergreen oak forest rich in spring flowers and woodland birds. This large pine forest is a unique environmental resource as it is the southernmost pine forest in the world. The reserve consists of Mediterranean-like hill country, dominated by open woodlands of oak trees, interspersed with pistachio, pine, carob, and wild strawberry trees. Situated in a scenic area with ancient villages and archaeological ruins including the Ajloun Castle, the preserve has five hiking trails. The forest is home to typical forest animals, including herds of wild boar. The Reserve runs a special breeding program for the rare and beautiful Roe deer and Persian Fallow deer.
