Historical Sightseeing Tour of Cachoeira
Take a walk through Cachoeira and see the religious foundation of the town and a cigar factory
| Attractions and things to do - Historical Sightseeing Tour of Cachoeira | |
Cachoeira, a small, laid-back colonial town is about two hours from Salvador da Bahia. This area is – and has been for years – home to sugar cane and tobacco plantations, bucolic towns and country markets. During the Brazilian Empire, Cachoeira was Bahia’s wealthiest and most populated town. To this day, its original character still remains in its houses, churches and historical buildings. Protected by the National Institute for Historical and Artistic Heritage since 1971, Cachoeira, after Salvador, is the city that has the most important Baroque architectural heritage in Bahia.
