Set out on a family safari to Masai Mara National Reserve in Western Kenya and get up close and personal with the natural wonders of Kenya. With the Esoit Oloololo Escarpment in the backdrop and the meandering Mara River cutting through its terrain, this 1510 square kilometres reserve has a variety of wildlife and endless savannah stretching into the horizon. Set out on a late afternoon game spotting safari in the reserve and lookout for lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, hippos and elusive leopards. You might come across the seasonal ‘wildebeest’ here. The next day, as the sun rises over the region, take a safari to the northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem and keep your binoculars handy as you could see big cats pouncing on some unsuspecting prey. Tuck into a hearty meal at the lodge and set out for a late afternoon game safari. Carry your camera and binoculars along as you could come across antelopes, Grant’s gazelle, Masai giraffes, baboons and spotted hyenas. If you’re visiting the reserve between July and October, you’ll be in for a real treat as you watch the wildebeest migration. The sight of hundreds of columns of this antelope (also called the ‘gnu’) is something to behold. With a variety of wildlife, this family safari to Masai Mara National Reserve in Western Kenya will be etched on the tablets of your memory for years to come!
