There are two options for this gourmet experience: You have the choice of either lunch or dinner and a choice of a Castilian Menu.
Lunch at Posada De La Villa Restaurant: Castilian Menu
There is no hotel pick up for this tour. You should make your way to Posada De La Villa Restaurant at Cava Baja Street, 9, where you will enjoy your delicious lunch.
The district of Cava Baja, near the old Arab walls in Old Madrid, has some of the best food in town. One of the finest restaurants in the area is the Posada de la Villa. From 1642 up until 1980 it was an inn for travelers. Now, it is a prestigious restaurant with a cuisine that includes many local specialties, such as meats roasted in Arab-style wood-burning ovens and slow-cooked cocido madrilène (traditional stew of meat and vegetables cooked with spearmint and saffron).
The Posada de la Villa remains today a testimony to local tradition; it is appealing, welcoming, classical and comfortable. The Castilian lunch menu includes the following choices:
• Starters: Choice of Spanish acorn-fed ham, or cured Manchego cheese, or piquillo peppers (slightly hot), or Burgos blood sausage, or house croquettes
• Main dish: Milk-fed baby lamb (roasted in quarters in the wood fired oven) with a seasonal salad of lettuce with onions or endives).
• Desserts: Choice of bartolillo (cream pastry), or leche frita (fried milk) with puff pastry
• Drinks: Wine - Marques de Riscal Reserva; or mineral water, or soft drinks
• Coffee or herbal tea
Your gourmet tour ends at Posada De La Villa Restaurant.
Dinner at Posada De La Villa Restaurant: Castilian Menu
The restaurant and menu are the same as for the above gourmet experience but you will enjoy dinner instead of lunch.
