For your magical Live Flamenco – Sacromonte experience you will be picked up from your Granada hotel in a micro-bus or Van Vito.
There are two options for this delightful evening. You can choose to have dinner with your meal or just enjoy the show. Dinner is served before the performance, so if you select the With Dinner option you will be picked up at 2000h (8:00pm). If you select the Show Only option you will be picked up from your hotel at 2130h (9:30pm).
You will be driven to the Alhambra, which stands majestically against a backdrop of the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada.
If you have opted to have dinner you will be served a traditional Andalusian meal. Choose from an extensive menu which offers many options to cater to all tastes. You can enjoy traditional Spanish tapas or try some local specialties. Drinks – red and white wine, beer, water and soft drinks – are included with the meal.
If you have chosen the 'Show Only' option, you will be served a free drink as you watch the performance.
The 90-minute show takes place in a ‘cave’ setting at Venta El Gallo, at the Sacromonte. This venue specializes in Zambra, a style of flamenco dance performed by the Romani people (Gitanos) of Granada. It is said to have developed from historic Moorish dances and has some resemblance to belly dancing. Zambra is danced barefoot with finger cymbals, the blouse is tied under the bust and the skirt is drawn tight around the hips before flaring out to a ruffle at the end.
The Zambra is danced at Gitano weddings and performed for tourists in the Andalusian Sacromonte Caves and Hills. At one time it was outlawed and became known as the ‘Forbidden Dance’.
At the end of the evening you will be dropped off back at your hotel in Granada.
