Itinerary

The Barcelona Bike Tour is an excellent way to get to know one of Spain’s most delightful cities. To join the tour you should make your way to the Tourist Office of Plaça Sant Jaume near Barcelona´s City Hall. The guides will be waiting for you in red T-shirts bearing the activity operator’s name.

You will be provided with your bike, and a safety helmet if you wish to wear one. Then set off with your English/ French speaking guide to discover the many treasures of Barcelona. The tour will take you to all the most important sights and also to some of the less ‘touristy’ places. You will ride mainly on cycling paths, and in pedestrian zones and parks. On the way, your guide will tell you the history of the city and give you interesting information and useful tips about Barcelona.

Stops on your 3-hour ride will include the following places. Each stop will be for less than 5 minutes:

Old Town and Gothic Quarter: This district dates from Barcelona’s golden age in the Middle Ages. As well as quaint winding alleys and attractive squares, it has many beautiful buildings including the Cathedral de la Seu and the medieval palace of Plaça del Rei, where Columbus was received after returning from the New World.

Port Vell (Old Harbor): Barcelona is a port city. The Old Harbor is dominated by magnificent 60-meter statue of Christopher Columbus pointing symbolically towards the New World. Although Port Vell is now a leisure area and marina, it still has a small fishing port.

Poble Nou: A former industrial area that was in its heyday in the 19th century. After a period of decay, the neighborhood has undergone a dramatic transformation.

Olympic Barcelona (from Montjuic to the Olimpic Port): Here, you will see many of the imaginative works carried out for the 1992 Olympic Games. These include the sports facilities of the Olympic Ring and the Olympic Tower, built by renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava in a typical curved white style. You will also see Port Olímpic, which was built up for the Games, and now contains a marina with some nice public sculptures, and posh bars and restaurants.

Gaudi’s Barcelona (Gaudi): Along your cycling route you will see various architectural masterpieces by the modernist (Art Nouveau) genius Antoni Gaudi.

Sagrada Familia: Designed by Antoni Gaudi, this incredible piece of architecture remains unfinished even after 100 years. Marvel at the expressionist artwork of the cathedral and its Nativity Façade where the theme of Christ’s birth and childhood is depicted.

Ciutadella Park: Barcelona's most central park. It includes a zoo, a lake, a large fountain and several museums. The Catalan Parliament is located at a building in the center of the park.
