Explore South Africa's dramatic landscape, scenery and cultures as you travel from the 'Friendly City' of Port Elizabeth to Cape Town on a journey that criss-crosses ostrich farms, whale-watching, charming towns and a scenic drive along the Garden Route.

Admire the lonely beauty of the Tsitsikamma forest. Indigenous forests, craggy unspoilt coastline, mountains adorned with lush vegetation and an incredible variety bird and animal life greet you at Tsitsikamma! As you hike into the forest, admire the majesty of the Big Tree - a behemoth 800 year old yellowwood tree, the largest and oldest tree in South Africa.

The Ostrich Farm in Oudtshoorn is a great place to get up close and personal with ostriches. Situated 30km from Oudtshoorn, the Cango Caves are among the best stalagmite formations in the world. The mysterious beauty of its colourfully illuminated bizarre shapes is a riveting sight.

Arrive in Cape Town after a wonderful, kaleidoscopic experience of South Africa.

Itinerary

Day 1: Port Elizabeth - Knysna

After your hotel pick-up, depart Port Elizabeth in an air-conditioned luxury coach, accompanied by a professional English-speaking guide. Head westwards, reaching the Tsitsikamma Mountains and indigenous forests.

Drive through Tsitsikamma Forest. Stop and walk to Big Tree, also view the fallen tree.

Continue and stop at Blaauwkrantz Bridge viewpoint to watch the Bungi jumping. Continue en route and stop at Groot River Pass in Nature’s Valley for photo opportunities.

Continue to Knysna. On arriving, check into your hotel.

Spend the rest of the day is at leisure to explore the area.

Overnight in Knysna. Day 2: Knysna

After breakfast, explore the many shops in Knysna and soak in the atmosphere of this quaint town.

After this, set out on a lagoon cruise to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Here we enjoy a trailer ride to the top of the Western Head. Walk back under the Milkwood trees for lunch.

Transfer to your hotel in Knysna for your overnight stay. There is time to sit at the pool or wander around the markets.

Overnight in Knysna. Day 3: Knysna - Oudtshoorn

After breakfast, depart for Oudtshoorn, via the Outeniqua Pass, with a photo stop at Dolphin Point.

Visit an Ostrich Farm for a guided tour and lunch (own expense) and visit the curio shop.

Depart the Ostrich farm for the Cango Caves.

Arrive at the Cango Caves for a tour of the vast limestone caverns.

Depart the Caves for your hotel in Oudtshoorn.

Arrive at your hotel for check in. Dinner and overnight in Oudtshoorn. Day 4: Oudtshoorn - Stellenbosch

After breakfast, travel through the ‘Little Karoo’ to Barrydale, where you will have the opportunity to visit a local farm school, interact with the children and teachers, spending time with them in the classroom learning more about the local farming community, before continuing to Montagu, a picturesque and historic spa town.

Continue to Stellenbosch, the second oldest city in South Africa, surrounded by some of the most spectacular mountains with vineyards as a backdrop.

Arrive at your hotel for check in. Dinner and overnight in Stellenbosch. Day 5: Stellenbosch - Cape Town

After breakfast travel through Route 62 via the ‘Klein Karoo’ and Montagu towards Cape Town via Ladismith and the Huisrivier Pass, with a viewpoint stop on the pass.

Arrive at Ladismith for a refreshment stop.

Depart Ladismith via Barrydale and arrive in Montagu for lunch (optional and own expense).

Depart and continue the journey to Cape Town via Worcester, stopping at Worcester for a quick comfort stop.

Depart the last stretch of your journey to Cape Town via the Du Toits Kloof Pass. Time permitting, stop on the pass at the view point.

Arrive in Cape Town late afternoon where the tour ends with a drop off at either your hotel or the airport.
