  • Overview & Itinerary

A Golden Circle tour is a must-do in Iceland, this unique version of the tour combines the stunning sights with spectacular food.

The famous Golden Circle route covers some of the most spectacular sights in Iceland. Starting with a trip to Þingvellir national park and finishing with geysers and hot springs. You will see the famous geyser Strokkur, which can shoot water 30 meters into the air. Through out the entire trip you will be making stops to farms and a restaurant to eat and taste local, traditional, and Mediterranean food.

At the start of your Taste the Golden Cicle Tour you will be picked up from your hotel in Reykjavik.

The tour starts with a spectacular show of nature with a trip to Þingvellir national park, this beautiful site has a lot of history and is where the Icelandic parliament was formed in 930 AD. This area is also where you will see the meeting of European and North American continents.

Next you will be taken to the Efstidalur farm, which welcomes you with warmth and a look at the day-to-day life and work of a modern, Icelandic farm. You will be able to watch this work in progress from the Café window that looks down onto the cows. Some of the tasty treats you will be able to look forward to here are their freshly made colorful ice cream, skyr, feta cheese, carpaccio, mysa (a traditional dairy soft drink favored by the Vikings) and bruschetta. This is just the beginning though you’ll have to also try their home made soup, bread, roast beef, and fresh trout from the river Útey.

When you are done eating it will be time to go to Gulfoss waterfall. This is an amazing and thunderous wonder that is best experienced up close by walking down to the rocks or climbing to the viewing platform. After this you will be taken to the hot springs and geyser where you can see Strokkur, which can shoot water 30 meters into the air.

After seeing these beautiful landmarks it is time to stop again. This stop is for a little piece of the Mediterranean food in the middle of Iceland. This restaurant is called Friðheimar and uses greenhouses to produce its vegetables in the Icelandic climate. Here you will have the opportunity to learn about growing greenhouse tomatoes and taste some of their delicious food.

Lastly you wil go on to see Islenski bærin, which is one of Iceland’s best-preserved turfed farms. Along with its traditional turfed houses you will be able to try some of the best and most traditional Icelandic food: dry fish and seaweed, flat bread and smoked lamb, pancakes with whipped cream and rhubarb jelly and fresh honey and herbal tea.

Completely full from a day of great food and amazing scenery at the end of it a driver will drive you back to Reykjavik.
