By the time you’ve finished mid-afternoon, you’ll have gained two opposing perspectives that manage to mesh perfectly into the iconic stunning landscape of Iceland. This trip is perfect for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors in new ways!
Your tour starts when your expert tour guide picks you up from your hotel in Reykjavik between 9:00am and 9:30am. From there you will head out to the base located in Mosfellsbær town located about 15 minutes from downtown. Here, you’ll be briefed on safety and how to use the power 650cc Quad bikes you’ll be riding.
Once everything has been explained and everyone is ready, the group will head out on a one-hour journey up Harrefjall mountain. As you climb up the mountain, and at the peak, there will be stunning vistas and a panorama of Iceland’s famed landscape. At the top, you’ll have time to take a few pictures of Mt. Esja and enjoy the bird’s eye view before heading back down through the hills surrounding Reykjavik.
Having worked up an appetite, you’ll head back into the city for a light lunch. Your next stop is about 25 minutes away, tucked below the Blue Mountains: it’s caving time! The Leiðarendi cave is a perfect example of a lava tunnel formed over 2000 years ago by the same volcanic activity that made Iceland the impressive geological landscape. You’ll crawl, walk, and climb on your journey beneath the surface, passing massive icicles in the winter months, as your guide tells you about Iceland’s natural history and how these caves were formed so many years ago.
This adventure is perfect for those looking to touch the sky and dig below ground for two completely different perspectives on the beautiful country surrounding them. At the end of the day, you’ll be returned to your hotel in Reykjavik.
