| Overview | |
|
The Philae Temple, dedicated to goddess Isis, is one of the most prominent Egyptian temples in Aswan with a very interesting history. Built in the Greco-Roman era by the Ptolemaic dynasty, the temple was built over a period of 300 years. Isis, the Egyptian Goddess of love, magic, fertility and motherhood has been worshipped in Egypt for centuries. See the Temple of Isis which is built in the same way as the temples of the New Kingdom with huge pylons. The Philae Temple complex of Aswan is a must visit for anyone interested in Egypt and its history.
