Activity Overview

Take a shot at black water rafting on your adventure holiday in New Zealand. This adventure sport, also known as cave tubing, is an experience unique to New Zealand. Experience the thrill of floating down the river on an inflated rubber tube. You’ll find yourself taking part in all manner of exciting sports, like abseiling (climbing down a rope), cave tubing and climbing. Go caving through the magnificent Ruakuri cave in Waitomo. The entrance to this 1.6 kilometre long cave was once a Maori burial site. It is now protected by a spiral drum like structure. An experienced guide will take you through this five hour adventure and direct you through the cave. Watch out for the glow worms. Also be sure to visit the Museum of Caves and see the flying fox - which is really a herbivorous bat - found in these parts.
