Activity Overview

The New Zealand Agrodome is a 160-hectare working sheep and cattle farm with 1200 sheep and 120 beef cattle. Get a real hands-on, live experience of farming and a total interaction with the commercially farmed animals such as sheep, goats, cattle, deer, alcapas and ostriches. Enjoy the sheep shows with sheep shearing demonstration and sheep auctions. Hand-milk a cow on stage, or feed the lambs.

Tour an authentic New Zealand farm and visit the Organic Education Centre for kiwifruit wine and honey tasting.

Itinerary

Make your way to the Agrodome, Western Road, Ngongotaha in Rotorua for a unique sheep show and farm experience.

The Agrodome Sheep Show is a one-hour performance, presented three times daily in a specially designed auditorium. During the show you will see 19 sheep breeds introduced onto the stage, the art of sheep shearing, sheepdog demonstrations, cow milking, bottle feeding of lambs and an exciting sheep auction. Audience participation is a major part of the show highlighting the significance of agriculture in New Zealand.

The Farm Tour: The guided tour shows you all the ins and outs of this 160 hectare farm.Travel in an all-weather, all-terrain vehicle with a farm tour driver. Make regular stops along the way with time to hand-feed and pet the friendly animals. Your friendly, knowledgeable and experienced tour guide will explain everything and answer any questions you might have. During the farm tour, you will also visit the organic apple, mandarin, orange, olive and kiwi fruit orchard and stop at the Organic Education Centre for kiwifruit wine and honey tasting.

The tour ends after the farm tour.
