You will be dropped back at your Central Christchurch accommodation.
Spend an enchanting day in this rugged land with its soaring peaks, glaciers and permanent snow fields, where each view is more spectacular than the one before. See Mt. Cook, New Zealand’s tallest mountain, where Sir Edmund Hillary honed his climbing skills in preparation for Everest assault.
View the deep turquoise blue waters of Lake Tekapo and experience the serenity of the Church of the Good Shepherd in its lonely lakeside location, while you enjoy the views of the spectacular Southern Alps mountain range.
For your thrilling Mount Cook Tour from Christchurch you will be picked up from your Christchurch accommodation in the morning at a time pre-arranged with the local isango partner. Your friendly driver/guide will provide an informative commentary during the day.
Leaving Christchurch, you will travel by road to Mount Cook/Aoraki - Australasia's highest mountain. The next stop will be at Lake Tekapo. This lake is famous for the amazing turquoise blue colour of its waters. The intense colour is caused by the sunlight reflecting off particles of suspended rock dust.
On the lake shore you will see the solitary Church of the Good Shepherd, built in 1935 to commemorate the pioneers of the Mackenzie Country. Nearby is the bronze statue of a sheepdog, a tribute to the dogs that make the grazing of this mountain country possible. You can enjoy magnificent panoramas of the spectacular Southern Alps mountain range from the church.
You will then continue along the mesmerizing Tasman River before arriving at Mt. Cook village, located at the foot of Mt. Cook, where your tour will conclude.
