You will be picked up from your hotel at around 1600h (4:00pm) in a comfortable coach and driven to the delightful Willowbank Wildlife Reserve. On the way your driver will tell you about points of interest you see.
The tour starts at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve where you will be formally greeted by the Concert group, dressed in native costume. Willowbank is famous for its kiwi conservation programme and you will learn more about these fascinating ground-dwelling birds and also meet other animals, both native and introduced.
Then sit back and enjoy a Maori cultural performance, “KoTane consisting of action songs, poi dances and haka. The art of poi involves swinging tethered weights through a range of rhythmical and geometric patterns. Haka, performed by the New Zealand rugby teams before their matches, is a traditional ancestral war cry or dance. It involves vigorous movements and stamping of the feet accompanied by rhythmic shouts.
Following the performance, enjoy a wonderful 5-course buffet dinner in the Willowbank Restaurant. After dinner you will be taken on a tour of the Reserve where you will see Kiwis in the open, Eels, Keas, Deer, Possums and other birds and animals both native and introduced to New Zealand.
You will board your vehicle and enjoy a guided tour of Christchurch at night, prior to being dropped back at your accommodation.
