This tour will show you the typical Dutch countryside of polders (low-lying tracts of reclaimed land, common in the Netherlands) and little canals on the way to Volendam and Marken on the coast of the former Zuiderzee (now called IJsselmeer). Appreciate the picturesque beauty of these fishing villages where you can see wooden houses and colourful local attire. During summers, you could also enjoy a boat ride from Volendam to Marken.

Itinerary

This tour starts from the 26, Damrak in Amsterdam and you will travel in a coach.

As you proceed to the fishing villages of Volendam and Marken on the coast of the former Zuiderzee (now called IJsselmeer) you will see the typical Dutch countryside of polders (low-lying tracts of reclaimed land, common in the Netherlands) and canals. You will stop for about 45 minutes at a cheese farm where you can see how cheese is traditionally made, and also a windmill and a museum.

You can also enjoy a 20 minute boat ride from Volendam to Marken.

In contrast to the city, your tour will then take you through the Dutch countryside to Zaanse Schans, a well-known windmill village.

The tour ends at 26 Damrak.

Please note

Guests must reach 26 Damrak at least 20 minutes prior to the time of departure.
If time is limited a stop will be made at a Windmill near Volendam instead of the Windmill Village "Zaanse Schans"

The tour departs from 26 Damrak, Amsterdam. 26 Damrak is a 5 minutes walk from the Central Station as well as the Pier. From Central Station, walk straight ahead towards the street marked The Damrak which leads to the Dam Square.
Please report at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start time. This is mandatory to allow time for pre-departure briefing.
