The Romantic Road is just that. This road weaves between Würzburg and Füssen in a 261 mile stretch through the Bavarian landscape with its romantic cities and castles. This is one of Germany’s most popular holiday destinations; every year approximately 2 million people drive this stretch of culture abundance. On this tour you’ll drive down Romantic Road to visit Harburg, one of the oldest, biggest and well preserved castles of Southern Germany.

Rothenburg, is considered by some to be the most perfectly preserved medieval town in Europe. Within the walls of the old city is a splendid village that has every medieval detail you could ever dream of. The medieval style of the village has been kept alive through preserving the structures in tip-top shape to look like they were built yesterday.

You’ll truly feel as though you’ve stepped back in time.

Itinerary

The tour will head down Romantic Road to the first destination: Harburg Castle. Harburg was first mentioned in scripts at the end of the 11th century. This stony, medieval fortress is extremely well preserved. For the last thousand years it has remained intact; untouched by war or strife. This is a must see—one of Germany’s most beautiful attractions.

After your visit of the castle, you’ll drive through Swabian crater landscape passing through the lovely medieval town of Dinkelsbuehl to Rothenburg.

Rothenburg, is considered by some to be the most perfectly preserved medieval town in Europe. In Rothenburg, you’ll be given time on your own for sightseeing, lunch and shopping. Within the walls of the old city you’ll experience the medieval flavor of this town. Beyond the old stone walls there are many restaurants and souvenir shops which will cater to all of your needs.

The tour will return to Munich via the Hallertau, the world largest hop-growing area. Hops are utilized in Germany’s colossal beer industry as well as in herbal medicine for their calming effect on the nervous system.
