You will be picked up in an air-conditioned coach from your hotel in Mexico City. Accompanied by a bilingual guide speaking English and Spanish, you will be taken on a sightseeing tour of Mexico City.
Take a trip to the National Palace where you will see beautiful murals painted by the great muralist Diego Riviera. Further on, proceed to the Constitution Square, also known as Central Plaza or Zocalo, a massive concrete area signed with a giant flag. Inside the underground Zocalo station, you’ll see historical reproductions of the Square, exhibits of ceremonial offerings and stone statues of goddesses among others.
Continue to the Metropolitan Cathedral which represents a synthesis of art forms in New Spain. The church has a baroque and neo classical façade, its Altar of Forgiveness, the sacristy, and the Altar of Kings are worth looking out for!
Also visit the Aztec Major Temple, an ancient temple ruins discovered in 1978 while workers were digging to place underground electric cables. In addition to the main avenues, you will also visit Chapultepec Park, noteworthy for its centuries-old forest which encircles the Chapultepec Hill and for the castle which crowns its summit. Explore the most important residential zones of the city and the Pink Zone (Zona Rosa).
Further on, continue to the Anthropology Museum. One of its kind in the world, the Anthropology Museum is divided into two separate sections. On the ground floor, 12 rooms provide an introduction to anthropology and display archaeological finds from extinct Indian cultures. The upper floor documents the lifestyle of contemporary Indian inhabitants of Mexico. Each room is devoted to a group of people or a centre of culture.
After exploring the museum, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Mexico City.
