You will be picked up in an air-conditioned coach from your hotel in Mexico City. Accompanied by a bilingual guide speaking English and Spanish, you will be taken to Plaza de Las Tres Culturas (meaning three cultures plaza) and the Basilica of our Lady of Guadalupe. See the original image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Interestingly, the new basilica built on the site of a 16th century church has a circular floor plan so that the image of the Virgin can be seen from any point within the building.
Further on, proceed to the Guadalupe Shrine and learn about the tradition of La Villa de Guadalupe involving a miracle and an Indian saint. Today, La Villa de Guadalupe is an interesting place visited by people of all religions and nationalities.
Continue to the famous archaeological site of Teotihuacan where you will see the monumental Pyramid of the Sun and Moon, the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Avenue of the Dead. Many years, events and people passed before this amazing place was elevated to the ranks of a mythical city.
It was a place where sacrifices were made to the god, often in correlation with astronomical events. You can even climb to the top of the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. Visit the Citadel, a large open space surrounded by temples and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl (the feathered serpent) decorated with sculptures of serpent’s head, snails, shells and symbols of water.
After climbing up the pyramids of Teotihuacan and discovering its history, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Mexico City.
