Miri is a city in northern Sarawak, on the island of Borneo, and the birthplace of the petroleum industry in Sarawak. The town of Miri developed rapidly from a small village in the 1800s into the very cosmopolitan and modern town it is today largely due to the discovery of oil when it was first discovered in 1910. Grand Old Lady: It is the first Oil Well in Malaysia, located on Canada Hill, overlooking the town. It was built in the year 1910 and has produced some 660,000 barrels of oil. Now, it has been gazetted as a Historical Monument. At the site there is a man-size replica of “oilmen” at work.

Lian Hua San (Lotus Hill) Temple: It was completed in 2000 and is one of the biggest Taoist temples in South East Asia. The unique building presents Chinese religious architecture and design and offers irresistible photo-taking opportunities. It houses three statues depicting the Taoist deities.

Farmer's Market or ‘Tamu’: The bustling Farmer's Market, commonly known as "Tamu", has a huge variety of local vegetables, fruits and other food brought in by the natives and local farmers from around Miri.

You will then go on a drive through the old town of Miri, through the bazaars and then on to the local malls, where you may want to stop for some shopping for local souvenirs and handicrafts.

You will be dropped back at your hotel at the end of the tour.
