Overview

Peninsular Malaysia’s largest state, Kuantan, is a place of cultural diversity like most of Malaysia and has a mix of Malay, Chinese, and Indian communities. All these communities practise their own religions and customs as is seen clearly from the variety of places of religious worship found all across the city. Worth a visit are the colourful Hindu Temple and the majestic State Mosque.

Friendly to the explorer on foot, Kuantan also reveals its charms through its street life and attractions around the old and new shops and houses in the town centre. The most famous beach, Teluk Chempedak is 4 kilometres out of town with a promenade offering a number of shops, souvenir stalls and restaurants.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Kuantan and taken for a full day’s sightseeing tour to Kuantan. At the Cherating Village, visit the Batik Workshop and witness how the exquisite batik is made. Indulge in and learn the art of weaving Pandanus leaves into souvenirs.

Later arrive in a picturesque fishing village where you will have a chance to see how the dried-salted fish are being prepared. The journey then continues to the beach of black rocks - believed to have been originated from the volcanic lava. Enjoy a photo stop at the Tanjung Api fishing jetty, before a scenic drive passing by the old town of Kuantan.

The other highlights of the tour include:

Hindu Temple: Located in the middle of the city, this temple has very interesting and colourfully painted idols of Hindu gods.

State Mosque: With its four minarets, the central dome and four smaller domes, the State Mosque stands out in regal blue and white colour. The beautiful mosque is a magnificent landmark of the city.

Up next, arriving at the Teluk Chempedak, stroll along the beach or browse the numerous stalls where you can sample some local food or pick-up your souvenirs.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Kuantan.
