Stroll around Puerta del Sol, a lively square in Madrid, and soak up the local way of life. On your way to Valencia, don’t forget to take pictures of the fascinating troglodyte dwellings of Guadix, strewn on a bizarrely shaped countryside.
Take a tour of the Alhambra Palace in Granada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, often referred to as ‘The eighth wonder of the world’. Arguably the finest example of Arab architecture in the whole of Spain, the palace and its gardens were built as a re-creation of ‘heaven on earth’, with cool patios, fountains and intricate carvings still as clear as when it was first built.
Day 1: Arrival at Madrid (2 nights)
After arriving at the Madrid Airport, you will be picked up and taken to your hotel Rafael Atocha. Later in the day, you will be met by your multi-lingual tour director speaking Spanish and English, for a welcome drink and tour briefing. Rafael Atocha is a 4-star hotel with 245 rooms equipped with special sized beds, magnetic lock, safe deposit box, fridge, mini bar, room service, satellite TV, cable TV, modem line and hairdryer among others. The hotel has a gym, lobby bar, terrace and a restaurant serving delicious local and international cuisine.
Your package includes daily buffet breakfast, throughout your stay.
Day 2: Toledo excursion and Madrid sightseeing
After breakfast, accompanied by a English-speaking local guide, you will be driven in a luxury air-conditioned coach (with onboard washroom) to Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a city located in central Spain, about 70 kilometres south of Madrid. Take a tour on foot and visit the Synagogue, a local steel workshop, the Church of Santo Tome. Santo Tomé is a chapel built to house renowned Spanish painter El Greco's most famous painting, The Burial of Count Orgaz, and remains devoted to that purpose.
After exploring Toledo, return to Madrid and take a sightseeing tour along wide tree-lined avenues. You will be shown the Cervantes Memorial in Plaza de Espana, one of Madrid’s largest and popular squares. Visit Puerta del Sol, a bustling square and one of the city’s most lively places. Further on, walk to see the magnificent Plaza Mayor. After sightseeing in Madrid, return to your hotel and spend the night.
Day 3: Madrid – Cordoba – Seville (2 nights)
After breakfast, you will be taken to Puerto Lapice of the legendary Don Quixote fame, then to Cordoba where you will visit the Mosque of the Caliphs and learn of the Moorish history of the region.
Further on, continue to your hotel Occidental in Seville. Hotel Occidental Sevilla is located in the residential and commercial centre of Seville. The amenities include meeting and conference facilities, a business centre, a gym, an outdoor swimming pool, a buffet restaurant, a snack bar and a lobby bar among others.
Your stay at the Seville hotel includes daily buffet breakfast and dinner.
Day 4: Seville sightseeing
After breakfast, you will be taken on a sightseeing tour through the tree lined trees of Seville to see the Bell Tower and the weather vane of the Giralda. The Giralda Tower was originally a minaret, a part of the Moorish mosque that preceded the cathedral. Built in the 12th century, the top of the tower was used as an astronomical observatory. You will also see the pools and fountains of the Maria Luisa Park and Christopher Columbus tomb in the Cathedral of Seville. Continue with a walk through the Jewish Quarter. At night you have the option to enjoy a flamenco show at a night club.
After sightseeing in Seville, return to your hotel and spend the night.
Day 5: Seville – Granada
After breakfast, take a scenic drive to Granada and enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of one of the most important sights in Spain, the Moorish Alhambra Palace. Alhambra is a fortress renowned for its Arab architecture and the gorgeous gardens of the Generalife.
The tour gives you the opportunity to photograph the delicate carvings and stunning decorations reflected in the water features found around every corner. The local guide will bring the complex to life and transport you to the magical world of the Arabian Nights. Take in the scent of plants and the sounds of trickling water in the cool oasis of the gardens, which makes for great photos with the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a backdrop. This tour is a treat for gardeners; the designs are fantastic and the symmetrical Arab features have been copied around the world. Tonight, enjoy local specialities for dinner in a typical restaurant in this hilltop town.
After dinner, check in at Alhamar Hotel (4-star) in Granada and spend the night. The hotel is situated in the centre of Granada and has 141 rooms and suites with modern minimalist decoration and all modern amenities. It has an on-site restaurant that mixes traditional cooking with new creations by the chef and a cafeteria-lobby with cocktail service.
Day 6: Granada – Valencia
After breakfast, board your coach and enjoy a scenic drive along the Mora Pass before arriving at the troglodyte dwellings of Guadix. Guadix has over 4000 caves hewn over centuries from the bizarrely shaped countryside from the biggest concentration of inhabited caves in Europe. Stop to take pictures of the troglodyte dwellings. Further on, continue to Valencia, renowned for its orange groves. You will be shown its famous Bull Ring, the great Cathedral and the Towers of Serrano and Cuarte. The Valencia Cathedral is an imposing structure with an unusual blend of gothic, Romanesque and baroque architectures. It is also the current location of the Holy Grail.
After sightseeing in Valencia, check in at Abba Acteon Plaza and spend the night. Dinner will be served to you in the hotel. It is a modern comfortable hotel located on the main roadway which links the central part of the city with the port and the beaches. The hotel has comfortable rooms, sauna, bar/lounge, health club, mini bar and all modern amenities.
Day 7: Valencia – Barcelona (2 nights)
After breakfast, you will be driven through the Levant region to PeÒiscola for our first stop. Further on, proceed to Barcelona where on arrival you will enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city. You will see famous works of architecture by Antonio Gaudi, and La Rambla, a famous street in Barcelona that connects Plaza Catalunya to the monument of Columbus. Take a stroll through the gothic quarter famous for its magnificent Cathedral.
After seeing the highlights of Barcelona, check-in at Hesperia Tower (5-star hotel) and spend the night. The hotel has 280 luxurious rooms with all modern amenities, a sports centre, panoramic restaurant Evo headed by a world renowned chef, health club and spa among others.
Day 8: Barcelona at leisure
Today, you are at leisure to explore this fascinating city. You could shop in the chic boutiques along Diagonal or take an excursion to Montserrat (optional).
In the evening, you will enjoy a special farewell dinner with wine, along with your tour director and new friends. Spend the night at your hotel in Barcelona.
Day 9: Depart Barcelona
After breakfast, you will be dropped to the Barcelona Airport for your onward flight.
Pick up on arrival at Madrid Airport is available at 0930h (09:30 am), 1230h (12:30 am) and 1500h (03:00 pm). If you are arriving later, you will have to make your own way to your hotel in Dublin. Return transfer from the last hotel will arrive at Barcelona Airport at 0900h (09:00 am).

The tour was a 'highlight' it was magical and very well organised, the tour guide made sure we were comfortable and Louis our driver was just very reliable and also a cuti...Lina Rossi
