Hever Castle, Royal Tunbridge Wells and Penshurst Palace - Tour from London |
Visit the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, and see exquisite art works at Penshurst Place
| Overview | |
This tour takes you to Kent, one of the most beautiful areas in England. The first stop is the 13th century, Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII's second wife and mother of Elizabeth I.The castle has many items relating to the Tudors, including two books of hours (prayer books) signed and inscribed by Anne Boleyn. The historic spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is famous its antique auctions, fairs and shops. Time seems to have stood still for almost six centuries at Penshurst Palace. Built in 1341, it has a marvellous mix of paintings, tapestries and furniture dating from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. The impressive gardens were first laid in the 14th century and later developed by the Sydney family who first came to Penshurst in 1552.
