Hairspray is a hilarious musical about Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and her passion for dancing. Don’t miss out this musical comedy playing at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre. Regarded as the mother of all musicals, Hairspray is an interesting story of an ordinary girl with big hair and an even bigger heart as she sets out to dance her way onto a popular television dance show. Subsequently, she wins a spot on the local TV dance programme ‘The Corny Collins Show’ and overnight transforms into an exuberant teen celebrity. Can Tracy realise her extraordinary dreams, inspire her mother and still have time to win the boy she loves? One of Britain's leading musical stars, Michael Ball, undergoes a major transformation to play Tracy's mother Edna. Comedian and actor Mel Smith plays Tracy's father Wilbur. Leanne Jones, trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, makes her professional debut as Tracy.
