Riga, the capital of Latvia, is situated on the Baltic Sea coast at the mouth of the River Daugava. Riga has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic quarter and notable Art Nouveau architecture. Riga is a vibrant, fast-evolving modern city that has a lot to offer. Although it still maintains remnants of medieval architecture and has some of the finest examples of late 19th century Jugend buildings in Europe. The city is full of tourist spots and interesting monuments and museums, the high points being: The Doma Cathedral, one of the largest churches in the Baltic States and Riga Castle, which houses the Museum of foreign art and well as being home to the Latvian president. Other places to not to be missed are St Peter's Church and St Jacob’s Cathedral, the Powder Tower and the Latvian Museum of War. Riga indeed has something for everyone.
