See the heritage of the Nabateans, diligent Arab people who settled in southern Jordan to create many architectural works of art including the Siq, the 1km long chasm with walls 200 meters high, and the famously immense façade of the treasury monument.
Make your way to the narrow desert valley in a comfortable, private car with your very own local guide who will enlighten you with a series of interesting facts and will be there to answer all your burning questions. Several walks and climbs harbouring hundreds of tombs, temples, baths, burial chambers, arched gateways, colonnaded streets and poignant rock drawings will be revealed - as well as a 3000 seat open air theatre , a vast first century Monastery and a contemporary archaeological museum, which can all be explored at your own pace.
It’s a simply stunning and educating trip you will never forget. Petra has also been named as one of the top places to go before you die and UNESCO has even described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage". Don’t miss out on a tour to this astounding city, half as old as time.
The tour begins at your hotel in Amman where you will be picked up in a private car (a Citreon C5, a luxury Mercedes or a seven-seater minivan – dependent of the size of your group). You will then proceed along the desert highway to the ancient city of Petra in Southern Jordan
You are free to explore the Rose Red City of Petra at your leisure – your local, English-speaking guide will be there to answer any questions you may have and unveil Petra’s ancient history and culture with interesting facts. Alternatively, you can explore Petra independently.
You’ll walk along the magnificent Siq – a dam that was built over 2,000 years ago and ahead of its time. Prepare to be amazed by the rock-cut architecture and sophisticated rose-coloured buildings.
The city, that could have been built as early as 312 BC, is the most popular tourist attraction in Jordan thanks to its unique history. Wonder through the half-built, half-carved buildings and explore the secret gorges and passages.
Make sure you see the Khasneh, the Urn Tomb, the Palace Tomb, the Corinthian Tomb and the Deir ("monastery") – which all show aspects of the Hellenistic architecture along with the Nabataean rock-carvings. Marvel at the innovate water systems of dams and water cisterns – a prime example of water engineering thousands of years ago.
Finally, after you explored the unforgettable Petra at your own pace, you will be taken back to your ho
