You will be picked up from your Ocho Rios hotel in a bus for this Kayaking in the White River Valley tour. You will be accompanied by an English-speaking driver/ guide.
Take a scenic drive through the hilly interior of Ocho Rios to the Spanish Bridge , an old stone overpass from the 17th century and one of the last relics of Spanish colonization in Jamaica. The bridge spans the White River , whose waters are believed by some natives to reverse the aging process.
There will be a short safety briefing before each person is assigned a kayak, paddle and a life-vest.
Hop in your kayak and paddle your way through fierce rapids and placid pools in the shadow of tropical trees and towering bamboo groves.
At the halfway mark of your journey, you’ll see the Arawak Gazebo nestled in a thick grove of riparian vegetation. The gazebo is modeled on the bygone dwellings of the Arawak Indians, who had free reign over this Caribbean paradise before European ships washed ashore.
Your kayaking adventure ends amid the serenity of the Bamboo Cathedral , where giant bamboo trees arch over the water, creating a hushed and holy space.
Paddle to shore and enter the beautifully landscaped gardens of the White River Valley , where you can browse a gift shop full of Jamaican treasures or seek out refreshment at the Parrot Bar (payable direct). You’ll likely have worked up at appetite by now, and you’ll also be able to indulge in some traditional Jamaican Jerk (payable direct).
You’ll be returned to your hotel at tour’s end.
