This religious trip to the picturesque Castel Gandolfo is enriched with many interesting sights en route.

You will find the extensive ruins of the Baths of Caracalla dominate the landscape and the Chapel Domine Quo Vadis is impressive with its domed structure. Closer to Castel Gandolfo, the volcanic hills of Alban are scattered with lakes and are a beautiful sight.

This stretch of greenery extends to the town of Castel Gondalfo which overlooks the Albano Lake. The views of the surrounding hills and the lakes from this little town are breathtaking and it evokes a sense of peace and calm.

It’s a rare privilege to attend the Papal Blessing in this picturesque Italian locale.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your centrally located hotel at 0800h (8.00am). Travel by coach for a Papal Blessing at Castel Gandolfo, the summer residence of the Pope in Italy. The route to Castel Gandolfo travels along the Ancient Appian Way. The Appian Way is a very important ancient Roman road that connects Rome to Southeast Italy, as your drive you will pass some interesting sites along the way such as:

• The Baths of Caracalla: This building complex, now in ruins, was used by the Romans as public baths.

• The Chapel of Domine Quo Vadis: When you take the Appian Way, you will pass by this chapel, believed to be located at the place where St. Peter met Jesus while fleeing from Rome.

The small Italian town of Castel Gandolfo where the Pope has a summer villa overlooks Lake Albano. The Papal Blessing will take place in the square facing the Papal Palace.

After the blessing, you will be driven back to Rome and dropped near your hotel, arriving at around 1230h (12:30pm).

No drop off at the hotels but stops at: Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia, Piazza della Repubblica, Termini Station and Terminal GL
