The capital of this beautiful island, Dublin, is over a thousand years old. Its existence pre-dates the invading Vikings. Despite its antiquity Dublin is ever young at heart. A lively city with an energetic nightlife - the envy of Europe - and home to art, theatre, music and the celebrated Trinity College (founded in 1591). Its famous library contains manuscripts and printed books, since the end of the 16th century, including the famous Book of Kells.
The River Liffey cuts across the city but, like Temple Bar, remains the heart of Dublin. Temple Bar has retained its medieval atmosphere with narrow cobbled streets and lovingly restored old buildings. It is Dublin's cultural quarter with a vibrant nightlife and wonderful shops that are popular with tourists.
Even a short time in Dublin City will far exceed your expectations.
