Leave the tourist trail and spend an evening with a real Indian family enjoying delicious home-cooked food and learning about local culture.
While magnificent buildings and monuments are an exciting part of travel, you cannot really feel you know and understand a country unless you have contact with local people. This delightful Delhi tour allows you to do just that.
Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you will travel by cycle rickshaw and Metro to visit the home of a hospitable local family.
You will be served a mouth-watering array of tasty dishes, which you can eat by hand, local style, or with a knife and fork, as you wish. During the evening you will learn all about Indian traditions of home life, the extended family and how it works, marriage customs – and of course, the food!
This special evening is much more than just a meal. It will be a memory to treasure and one of the highlights of your Indian holiday.
The Delhi Tour – Home Cooking experience is a unique chance to see life in a real Indian home and share a delicious meal with a local family. At the start of the excursion, your guide will come to pick you up from your hotel in Metropolitan Delhi at the time pre-arranged with the tour operator.
You will then transfer to the Metro station by cycle rickshaw to start your exciting ‘real life’ experience. The journey to your host's home provides an ideal opportunity to learn more from the guide about what to expect for the evening. Upon arrival you will be greeted by your gracious hosts and welcomed into their home.
As dinner is being prepared, your local guide will provide information on Indian lifestyle and traditions.
You will dine on a traditional Indian home-cooked meal which will be predominantly vegetarian and sure to tantalize your taste buds. Your hosts and guide will be more than happy to provide as much information as you desire on the dishes provided, their ingredients and how best to eat them.
You can choose to eat Indian-style with your hands, or use a knife, fork or spoon if you prefer. At the end of the meal you will have an opportunity to enjoy some masala chai. As alcohol is not part of everyday life of an Indian family, it will not be served with the meal.
After saying thank you and goodbye to our hosts, the local guide will assist with getting a taxi back to your hotel.
