You will be picked up from your hotel and taken to the boat station for a cruise on the Danube. On this tour, you will visit:
• Esztergom: A former royal town, it was the first capital of the country and has been the seat of kings and archbishops for centuries. Visit the Basilica, considered one of the finest works of art to have survived from the Renaissance period.
• Visegrad: At one time the border of the Roman Empire, you can still see the ruins of Roman watchtowers along the Danube. The view from here is superb, encompassing the incomparable Danube Bend. There will be a photo stop here.
You will have lunch at Visegrad. It will be a three course meal with wine. Here is an indicative menu: welcome drink, fried chicken or turkey with potatoes or rice. Dessert: Somloi Galuska and 1 cup wine and mineral water.
Proceeding further, you will visit:
• Szentendre: This town has a distinct Mediterranean feel to it. Its picturesque setting attracted many painters, sculptors and artists who lived and still live in Szentendre. The town is home to several galleries, workshops, exhibition centres and museums. Here you will also visit Caprice, the Hungarian jewellery museum, a factory and see a jewellery exhibition and a multimedia presentation.
The tour ends at the boat station or Erzsebet Square.
Please note: Between November and March, due to low water levels, you will return to Budapest by bus and the duration of this tour will be 9 hours. Also, between April and October you may again need to return by bus due to low water levels.
