Lamma Island is one of Hong Kong’s many outer islands, a short ferry ride away from the mainland. This picturesque island is small, and roads and cars are practically non-existent. The sprawling island, anchored by two small fishing villages and dotted with small vegetable gardens and rice paddies, is known for its sandy beaches, pleasant walking paths, and seafood restaurants at the picturesque Sok Kwu Wan fishing village on the island. Some of Hong Kong’s best Chinese seafood restaurants are located here, side by side along the waterfront; they are extremely popular with the local residents – both Chinese and Western. During the summer months, it’s full-house every night and the atmosphere is typical of Hong Kong’s restaurants – noisy, crowded but always fun.
