The Colosseum

The mighty Colosseum witnessed bloody battles between gladiators, the Pantheon which started as a place of worship and is now a mausoleum for some of Historic Rome’s greatest artists and Castel St Angelo which has over the years been a castle, a museum and but perhaps is best known as Emperor Hadrian’s resting place. Renaissance Rome

If the Roman Empire laid the foundations of historic Rome the Renaissance movement added the finishing touches.
