Recount the events of World War II at the site of the Battle of Normandy (1944) and the D-Day landing beaches the staring point for the largest military operation in history.

Normandy has many memorials of World War II like the Pegasus Bridge, captured by British gliders from Nazi control. The D-Day landing beaches of Juno, Gold and Omaha once saw fierce fighting between the Allied Forces and Nazis in the historic Battle of Normandy and memorials are erected in honour of those who lost their lives. The large number of graves in the American Military Cemetery stands testimony to the killings in the Second World War and has a pond and chapel for silent reflections. The ground is still pockmarked with bomb craters in certain regions and ruins of German fortifications and bunkers are not hard to find.

A historic site in France, the D-Day landing beaches of Normandy testify to one of the fiercest battles in history.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Paris at 0630h (06:30am) and travel in an air-conditioned minivan to Normandy.

The first stop of the day is the Caen Memorial where you can see some fascinating films and illustrations of the second world war. You will have lunch here before continuing your tour.

In the afternoon continue to Ponte du Hoc and the American Cemetery in Colleville for an emotional visit, where 9386 soldiers are resting.

Continue to Omaha Beach. Here you can either walk along the beach or enter the new Visitor Centre which was created to commemorate the operations of 06 June 1944.

Continue with a drive along the coast to see Arromanches’ artificial harbour, which was built by the Allied Forces in less than 15 days to unload huge quantities of cargo. The last stop the day will be the Canadian War Memorial at Juno Beach. before returning to Paris.

After the tour you will return to your hotel in Paris, arriving around 1900h (7:00pm).
