Your private Volkswagen minibus will collect you from your Lyon Hotel and take you to a traditional boulangerie in town to kick-off your Gourmet Escapade tour of Beaujolais.
See how a baker rolls out the lean dough for a baguette and watch it take shape in the oven, rising into France’s favorite bread.
Next you will be taken to the fromagerie of an artisanal cheese maker, where you will learn how milk is transformed into curd and sample a delectable selection of cheeses called terroir, a French term that means “sense of place.”
Climb down into the cellar of an expert wine-maker, who will walk you through the unusual winemaking process of the Beaujolais region, and allow you to taste several of his light-bodied creations.
Eat lunch in the rolling hills of Beaujolais, surrounded by the area’s famed Gamay grapes as they mature on the vine, waiting to be squeezed into wine. Your minibus will find a lush spot for you among the vineyards, where you can spread out a blanket and enjoy a picnic.
Sit back and enjoy a scenic ride through the countryside to the arresting medieval village of Oingt, where you will be invited into the workshop of a Maître Chocolatier. He will show you how the cocoa plant is molded into chocolate and enliven your senses with some of his sweet inventions.
At tour’s end your private minibus will drop you back in the vicinity of your hotel in Lyon.
