  • Chance to see some of the most beautiful villages of France
  • Learn everything about lavender flowers at the Lavender Museum

This tour is your chance to see some of the most picturesque villages of France and learn the art of distillation at the Lavender Museum. Appreciate the picturesque setting of the village of Roussillon and take back pictures of its ochre-coloured cliffs and surreal landscape. Wander down the cobblestone streets of Gordes village and see quaint stone houses that root themselves into the sharp cliff of the mountain.

A trip to the Lavender Museum in Provence is highly recommended! The museum gives you a great insight into the reaping and distillation process of fine lavender, popularly known as the “Swiss Knife of aromatherapy”.

Itinerary

You will be picked up in an air-conditioned minibus from your hotel in Avignon. Accompanied by an English-speaking driver-cum-guide, you will be taken on a tour of the villages of Luberon.

Drive through the Luberon regional park, known for its beautiful countryside and picturesque hilltop villages Menerbes, where British writer Peter Mayle wrote ‘A Year in Provence’. Further on, proceed to Roussillon, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Visit the village of Gordes, one of the most well-known hilltop villages in the region. Stroll around and you will see houses of white stone and labyrinth of narrow cobblestone streets. After exploring Gordes, you have free time for lunch (cost not included).

Continue to the Lavender Museum to discover the flower symbol of Provence. The museum was created by the Lincele family, cultivators and distillers of fine lavender for over 5 generations. The lavender farm is located in the Vaucluse mountains at an altitude of 1,100 metres. The Linceles are one of the largest producers of fine lavender in the region. The museum tells you the history of distillation of this ancient plant and its utilization in medicines and perfumes. You will come across an impressive collection of copper stills dating from the 16th century. A demonstration of the process of distillation will be presented during the harvest season (July and August).

You will be dropped back to your hotel in Avignon.
