There are four options for your Upper Navua Rafting Adventure the only variation being the arrangements for getting to and from the local activity operator’s office in Pacific Harbour. The four options are :
• Nadi Area: Hotel pick up & drop-off included
• Coral Coast or Suva: Hotel pick up & drop-off included
• Intercontinental Resort: Hotel pick up & drop-off included
• Pacific Harbour: No hotel pick-up or drop-off. Make your way to the local activity operator’s office in Pacific Harbour, in the grounds of the Pearl South Pacific Resort.
It is recommended that you eat a hearty breakfast before departure. And don’t forget to bring a change of dry clothes with you!
The tour leaves the local activity operator’s office in Pacific Harbour at 0645h (06:45am) and you will be driven overland through the rainforest to the start of your rafting trip. On the way, you will be served a light snack and drink.
The vehicle will stop at a point just downstream of Nabukelevu Village. On leaving the bus, you will be given your life jackets, helmets, and paddles. You will then enjoy a short hike through the rainforest to the launch site, where you will be given a safety talk.
You then climb into your inflatable raft and the adventure begins. This rafting trip is one of the most thrilling experiences in Fiji or even in the world. Your raft will speed along the rushing Navua River through dramatic canyons where the volcanic walls are barely 15 feet (5 meters) apart and over 120 feet (40 meters) high. Contrasting with the black rock walls is the luxuriant rainforest where you may see fruit bats and parrots.
This rafting trip is famous for its many waterfalls along the route. People say there are at least 70 sparkling falls cascading down the rocks.
Part way through the journey, your guides will locate a suitably scenic and comfortable spot for lunch. Lunch will consist of a deli-spread of cold cuts (meats), cheeses, seasonably fresh vegetables, fruits, fresh bread and rolls, assorted cookies and other condiments. Juice and water are also made available.
After lunch, your rafting trip will continue and you will make a stop at one of the waterfalls. Eventually you will arrive at Wainadiro where the rafting trip ends. On leaving the raft you can change into the dry clothes that will have been stored on the tour vehicle. You will be served an afternoon snack of soda and cookies before boarding the bus for the return to the activity operator’s office.
For guests from Pacific Harbour the tour ends at the tour operator’s office.
Other guests will be dropped back at their hotels.
