Pick-up for the Lautoka Sightseeing Tour is from selected hotels in Nadi and Denarau Island Resorts. If your hotel is not a pick-up location, you will be advised of the closest pick-up location and picked up from there. This half-day tour can be taken either in the morning or the afternoon and an English-speaking guide will accompany you on the trip.
Your tour will begin at Nadi Airport where you board an air-conditioned vehicle and move north towards Lautoka, passing the lush sugarcane fields along the way.
The tour stops at the celebrated village of Veseisei which, according to legend, is the place where the first Fijians landed. Get down from the vehicle and take a walk through the village. Remember to say ‘Bula’ (the traditional local greeting) to the villagers!
Continue to Fiji’s second largest city, Lautoka, known as the ‘Sugar City’. Lautoka boasts the largest sugar mill in the Southern Hemisphere.
You have an hour to explore the city at your own pace. Shop or have a meal at one of the local restaurants (payable direct) or visit the bustling marketplace.
Re-board the vehicle and continue the pleasant drive around Lautoka where you’ll see Hindu temples, mosques and a compound with old colonial homes and 100-year old banyan trees.
The tour returns via the rural Vuda backroad, the ideal way to see local people at work and play. Enjoy a view of the distant offshore islands as you return to your hotel via the Queen’s Road.
At the end of this delightful half-day tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel.
