Overview

Marvel at ancient Egyptian architecture on this trip to the Kom Ombo and Edfu temples. Appreciate the views you approach the Kom Ombo temple, perched on a high dune overlooking the Nile. See the temple of crocodile god, Sobek and the Temple of Haroeris.

Explore the fascinating past of Egypt as you take a tour around the Edfu Temple dedicated to the falcon-headed God, Horus. Admire its magnificent construction - the temple gets a generous amount of sunlight throughout the day. Look out for a variety of battle and religious inscriptions on the walls as you explore its library, sanctuary and numerous other chambers.

Itinerary

In the morning, you will be picked up in an air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel in Luxor. Accompanied by a guide, you will be taken to the Kom Ombo temple, located on the river Nile.

Built during the Greco-Roman era, Kom Ombo is home to an unusual double temple. The temple on the right is dedicated to crocodile god, Sobek, while the temple on the left was in honour of Haroeris. Each temple has its own entrance, court, halls and sanctuary. The temple is believed to change colours as the sun sets.

Further on, proceed to the Edfu temple built out of sandstone during the Ptolemaic period. The temple is dedicated to the falcon-headed god, Horus. It is the best preserved temple in Egypt, and is magnificently constructed making wonderful use of natural sunlight. The temple contains a nilometre, windows and a well, including a variety of battle and religious inscriptions on the walls. Two statues of falcons are located at the entrance of the temple. The interior includes a library, a cloak room, a laboratory, a treasure room, an offering hall, a sanctuary and other chambers. You will be provided with box lunch on this tour.

After exploring the archaeological site, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Luxor.
