Tour the medieval town center of Dubrovnik, the “Pearl of the Adriatic.”

A major maritime power from the 13th century onwards, Dubrovnik abounds with cultural and historical treasures.

Visit the Dominican and Franciscan Monasteries, two of Europe’s most impressive churches.

The Dominican Monastery is an exemplary monument to the Gothic tradition, and houses Europe’s third oldest pharmacy.

Its Franciscan counterpart dates back to the early 13th century, and has miraculously weathered the sieges and earthquakes of ages.

Itinerary

0900h (09:00am): You will be picked up by car/ minivan or bus (depending on the number of passengers) from your Dubrovnik hotel to kick off this Sightseeing tour of Dubrovnik . You can also opt to be picked up from the entrance to the Old City at Pile. Guides are available in a host of languages, including Croatian, English, German, Italian, French (Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Slovakian, Hungarian, Slovenian, Czech, Polish, and Dutch language available on request).

0925h (09:25am): Make your way to the historic city center , where Dubrovnik rose to prominence as a medieval sea power in the 13th century. The commercial success and cultural achievements of the city helped shape the course of Croatian, and European, history.

The sightseeing starts at Pile Gate, which is the entrance to the Old Town, surrounded by the most fabulous city walls in Europe . On the walk through the main street Stradun you will see numerous monuments which are evidences of history of Dubrovnik.

The city may be most famous for its enduring historical churches. Visit the Franciscan Monastery , a Gothic-Romansesque masterpiece that dates from 1337. The grand interior gives invitation to lofty thoughts, and the library holds some 30,000 volumes.

After exiting from Monastery, in the front of you will see Onofrio's Fountain built by a famous Italian architect Onofrio della Cava. It has fresh spring water from the spring Šumet, and it helped the people of Dubrovnik during drought.

After approximately 15 minutes of walk through Stradun, you will be in front of Sponza Palace, Orlando's Column, St Blaise Church and Rector's Palace. St Blaise is a saint and protector of Dubrovnik and he has a special place in many stories about Dubrovnik.

A few minutes away are situated the Cathedral, city port and fish market where there will be a photostop.

At the exit of city, you will visit the Dominican Monastery and enjoy wonderful views of city port and city walls from the outside.

The Dominican Monastery was established as early as 1225 and assumed a strategically important position in the defense of the city. A long hall running beneath Gothic arches gives way to an interior rich in antiquated stone furniture and faded grave markers.

1125h (11:25am): You will be returned to your Dubrovnik hotel at tour’s end. You can also opt to be dropped off at the entrance to the Old City at Pile.
