There is no hotel pick up for your exciting Balloon Ride over Vancouver. Instead, you will meet your pilot at one of two possible locations: the Langley Regional Airport or at the “Park N’ Ride” parking lot located on 264th Street immediately north of the Trans Canada Highway. To find out the exact meeting place as well as your flight status and precise meeting time please call the Flight Line number given on your booking voucher the day before your flight.
You can watch the thrilling sight of your balloon taking shape before your eyes, ultimately standing more than 10 stories tall. Once it is fully inflated and ready for take-off, you climb into the gondola (a reinforced wicker basket) for the start of a magical journey.
You will take off in lovely dawn light over the great city of Vancouver. The launch is so gentle you will hardly realize you have left the ground.
Vancouver is a coastal city in southwestern British Columbia. It is the second largest city in the Pacific Northwest after Seattle and boasts more than 40 buildings over 100 meters high. From your balloon you will see spectacular views of the city's skyline and the coast.
Look out for landmark buildings like Living Shangri La, the One Wall Center and the Shaw Tower. And enjoy great views of the North Shore Mountains, the Strait of Georgia, the Burrard Peninsula and the Fraser River.
You fly with the prevailing winds, so the flight patterns and landing sites will vary according to changing wind directions. There is no wind chill and very little feeling of movement or sensation of height.
After about an hour's tranquil flight (the exact time depends on the winds) your pilot will prepare for landing.
Once on the ground, you will share in the oldest of ballooning traditions, a Champagne toast to celebrate a successful flight. Soft drinks are also available.
You will then board the vehicle and will be dropped back at the meeting point.
