You will be picked up from your hotel in Salvador in an air-conditioned coach for your Cultural Sightseeing Tour of Cachoeira by your English-speaking guide.
Your tour begins with a drive from Salvador to Cachoeira. While there, you’ll visit Igreja Matriz and Ordem Terceira do Carmo.
• Igreja Matriz :
Igreja Matriz is the principal church in Cachoerira. The site has been occupied by the church since the 16th century, although it was restored after damage occurred in the 1755 Earthquake. You’ll see the labor of love in the artistic architecture of the building.
• Ordem Terceira do Carmo:
Ordem Terceira do Carmo was originally built in the 16th century but was rebuilt after it was destroyed by a fire in the early 19th century. The nave has a baroque altar with a somewhat sacrilegious statue of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, who is supposedly modeled after Isabel II, whom the artist had romantic feelings for.
Crossing a colonial bridge (Ponte Dom Pedro II) over the River Paraguaçu you’ll travel from Cahoeira to São Félix. In São Félix you’ll visit a traditional cigar factory that was founded in 1873.
You’ll be taken back to your hotel in Salvador, where your tour concludes.
